March 18, 2008 - Vermont Discovery Cruises introduces a series of nine “Wine on the Water” cruises on Lake Champlain. The one night, two day cruises are to take place on Saturdays this summer. They depart from Burlington, Vermont and feature a one and a half hour afternoon wine tasting lead by Dellie Rex, Senior Wine Instructor at New England Culinary Institute. “Dellie Rex offers professional level wine education, from the basic to the profound, in a lively, entertaining manner. Included in this package are overnight accommodations on the Moonlight Lady, afternoon wine tasting, cocktail reception, three course dinner and breakfast in the morning.
The topic for the 2008 “Wine on the Water” cruise series is “Wine 101: Wine and Food Pairing For The Enthusiast”. Guests will have the opportunity to taste their way through four wines hand selected by Ms. Rex for their unique qualities. She will introduce basic wine tasting techniques in the fun and relaxed setting of the Moonlight Lady’s sky deck. Delicious foods will be presented to guests for comparison with the wines. Ms. Rex will guide guests through the basics of pairing wines with food. “Guests will have an opportunity to experience qualities in wine that they may have never identified previously. I have designed the tasting to be interactive, relaxed and fun.” states Ms. Rex.

A life long Wine Educator, Ms. Rex also ran a wine education service for many years in the Boston area, and has over 26 years’ experience in all phases of the wine business. “Dellie is an exceptional wine educator. About Dellie Rex:
Ms. Rex is a graduate of L’Academie du Vin in Paris, and holds an MBA degree from Babson College. She is a member of the Society of Wine Educators, La Commanderie de Bordeaux, and Les Dames d’Escoffier, and serves on the Board of the Liz Bishop Wine Resource Center in Boston. She served as Adjunct Professor of Wine Appreciation at Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration for thirteen years. In June 2006, Delmar Learning published “About Wine”, a textbook for college students of the culinary arts and hospitality administration, co-authored by Ms. Rex.
