August 23, 2007 - The novel starts "I can tell you exactly when I became afraid. I'm not talking about the story-by-the-campfire-willies. I mean hair-standing-up-on-the-neck scared. My stomach churned when Martha Cunningham dragged me into this nasty doublewide trailer. And then I saw it." With this opening paragraph, Ms. Rosendahl has catipulted herself into the hearts and minds of children everywhere.
Bitter Tastes is fraught with the perils of a murder mystery with quirky characters who are 'real', the work is smart, slick and sophisticated enough to reach its targeted 8-12 year old audience. Adults love it too with many writing to Ms. Rosendahl about its resemblance to the kind of books they used to love like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.
This September finds Ms. Rosendahl on the road again. As a graduate of Vermont Law School, she will be returning for a reunion and a charity event to benefit literacy and reading.
On September 15th, she will be On the Green in South Royalton, Vermont where the Vermont Law School is. Books will be on sale for 15.95 and a substantial portion of that will be going to benefit literacy and reading which will be sent through to local literacy charities.
Ms. Rosendahl also attended her undergraduate degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana (class of 1978). She currently resides in Virginia but is a native of LA, California.
Bitter Tastes, published by Stargazer Press in January of 2007, has also been nominated for the Moonbeam Award, a prestigious award from the Jenkins Group.
