July 15, 2008 - The Virgin Islands day tour market is a competitive trade in which those who load the most people on their boat win, until now. Sail Safaris is trying an opposite tack, so to speak. Owner, Han Winogrond, explains.
"We thought there might be folks who wanted a smaller tour to more out of the way places." By using high performance beach cats by Hobie, the 4 year old company has virtually reinvented snorkeling tours for Virgin Islands tourists. They don't take any more than four people to a boat, they don't go to the usual touring destinations and they don't even have a storefront.
"By keeping costs and overhead low and focusing on our guests we're able to offer a unique snorkeling and sailing experience. As far as I know no one in the world offers charters on Hobie Cats. But it's really fun. We can land right on the islands and beaches." Explains Winogrond.
For now the most popular tours continue to be large boats that can accommodate around 50 people. But for a lucky few, exploring the Virgin Islands is a more intimate affair. To find out more about Sail Safaris visit http://www.SailSafaris.net
