UpdateStar informs users of new versions of freeware, shareware and commercial products, thus keeping the software spectrum on a PC bang up-to-date. The newly released version 2.2 offers further enhancements such as import / export features and gives users the option of adding important notes such as licensing information to the respective program details. UpdateStar is freeware and makes the software life of every software user considerably easier and more secure.
Import and export complete software setups.
The searching for and then installation of a complete software setup is pain that every user has felt when equipping a new PC with relevant software applications. Which software do I need? Where do I find this software? Where are my software licenses? The new import and export features put an end to these problems, as users can now back up and import complete software setups and easily install the software they need from within UpdateStar.
Users may back up their individual software setup partially or completely. This export can be used as a backup of one’s own software setup. The UpdateStar program export list can be used later on on the same PC or when migrating to a new PC in order to easily restore the software application setup that the user is familiar with. One’s own optimized software setup can then also be recommended or given to friends, for example.
UpdateStar users can also add notes for each program within the program’s details section. This can be especially useful when adding license information and exporting these notes together with the program list for backup purposes.
UpdateStar Packs.
Like the famous Google Pack, the new UpdateStar Packs offer complete software setups, which include top-rated and user recommended applications. UpdateStar Packs can be downloaded from the UpdateStar website and be imported in UpdateStar. Users can then install and try-out the applications for themselves. The use of UpdateStar Packs is particularly invaluable when setting up software on a new PC.
Packs currently available for download are a Windows Starter Pack, a Security Starter Pack and a Browser, Player & Viewer Pack. The UpdateStar Packs aim at providing users with standard software setups that allow for a pain-free setup of a standard PC software environment. UpdateStar Packs only include the most popular and top-rated freeware applications.
