August 18, 2008 - Lori-Ann & Curtis, a Christian Pop/Rock group from Kanata, Ontario, CANADA recently released their new single One More Chance.
This song is prayerful conversation between a penitent and God. The penitent is seeking to do that right thing with his/her life and asking for 'one more chance'.
Lori-Ann & Curtis is preparing to launch two additional musical offerings in the Fall.
The first is a retro, disco-inspired track, entitled Wonderful Counsellor (Advent Version). This song was the written in 2006 in response to a lack of new music for the Advent season. However, the song was left unrecorded until this year.
Ironically, Lori-Ann & Curtis released the Christmas version to "Wonderful Counsellor" as the title track to their 2007 Christmas CD. The Christmas version has a more mellow orchestration and arrangement compared to the upbeat Advent version.
According to Curtis,"The inspiration for the Advent version of Wonderful Counsellor really came from the need for more upbeat music to celebrate the third Sunday in Advent - the Sunday of Joy. Over our Christmas vacation I was constantly listening to a kid's song that my daughter liked, it was done in a disco beat...I loved the sound and I knew then that we had to incorporate that feel into the Advent piece."
Once recording started, Lori-Ann & Curtis decided that some extra voices were required, and recruited Lori-Ann's sister, Megan to share the lead vocals. Megan's husband, Stephan enthusiastically volunteered to sing background vocals. It was pure fun and it is evident in the track.
The second new release is Forest of Hope, which has a scheduled release date in November. Back in 1997, Curtis wrote his first piece, "Forest of Stone" which chronicled his experiences on moving to Canada and his University friendships.
Curtis recorded "Forest of Stone" as the title track of his 2001 debut album. When the opportunity arose to write a Christmas song for 2008, Curtis re-wrote the lyrics to "Forest of Stone".
Lori-Ann & Curtis re-worked the arrangements and produced a sparkling new holiday song about savouring the feeling of Christmas, without losing sight of the true meaning.
A third single, with a working title, Praise Him! is currently being recorded at Lori-Ann & Curtis' Kanata home studios. This song is a contemporary Christian praise song. The inspiration musically came from listening to a CD by acclaimed Christian artist, Mark Schultz. Mark's positive energy transcends all his songs and just elevates the music to a whole new level. Lori-Ann & Curtis are hoping to achieve something similar with "Praise Him!".
"Praise Him!" is scheduled for release in early 2009.
