University Of Teesside, Ties Up With AAG

Prof. Cliff Allan, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Teesside, one of the top five Universities in multimedia, animation and gaming in the UK was here in New Delhi.


(1888PressRelease) August 21, 2008 - Prof. Allan said ‘in its efforts to help institutions providing training in Animation, an upcoming opportunity in India, the University approved an arrangement with Academy for Animation and Gaming in NOIDA whereby students after successful completion of two years at AAG would be eligible to proceed to the final year of an Hons. Programme in Animation at the University thereby saving them cost of studying for first two years in the UK.

“The University as a part of its ambitious plans for India started its active promotion in early 2007 and from no students from India prior to that it recruited around 50 students in the year 2007.2008. It already has interest from a large number of students from India to study at the University during the academic year 2008-09 and is looking at over 100 students from India taking up undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the university in the next intake in September-October, 2008, he further added.

A large number of students taken admission to courses in Mechanical Engineering in which the University is top ranked in the UK, apart from a good number of students have shown interest in pursuing courses related to Network Systems at Masters Levels, he added.

About the University
Situated in central Middlesbrough, North East of England, on a single-site campus with excellent road and rail links University of Teesside is home to over 20,000 students. Started as a college in 1929 and conferred with University status in 1992, it close of 80 years of experience in Higher Education.

Design, computer science, nursing and health subjects have all performed well in teaching assessments. Other strengths include computer games design, animation and sport and exercise. Teesside has one of the largest UK HE course portfolios in the area of forensic science and investigation, criminology and police training. These courses attract students not only from the UK but also from Europe, the Gulf States and North and South Africa.

Over 1,800 computer workstations are available for students either in libraries or halls of residence.

The University’s Student Services Department has received Matrix accreditation, the former Department for Education and Skills’ quality standard for information, advice and guidance providers. The Department includes accommodation, counselling, careers, finance and sport and recreation. Only a handful of UK University Student Services Departments have achieved this accreditation.

The University sponsors a wide range of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, offering talented graduates the opportunity to carry out research with industry, under academic supervision.

The University will be sponsoring an additional 20 PhD scholarships in the 2007/2008 academic year.

Teesside has some of the most affordable University-managed housing in the UK.

726 places in University-owned accommodation, with an additional 472 University–provided places in the private sector
Free Internet access available in all University halls of residence.

Twice won Students’ Union of the year.
The Union provides a wide range of services, facilities and events for students from all backgrounds and age groups. Elected Officers represent students on every major University committee and on the Board of Governors. Regular meetings take place between the Students’ Union president and Vice-Chancellor, as well as ongoing, informal contact between Officers and University staff.

UK £ 7Million Olympia Building combines indoor sports facilities with teaching and research facilities for sport science.

Outdoor sports facilities include a £1.5m water sports centre on the River Tees, shared with the University of Durham.
