January 06, 2007 - Most defense related manufacturers are standardized on the Computer Aided Design (CAD) software called Pro/ENGINEER. As a result, vendors are supplied fully defined three-dimensional solid models in native Pro/ENGINEER format, without detailed manufacturing drawings. Even if parts are to be manufactured directly from the three-dimensional data, many manufacturing firms can not read the Pro/ENGINEER data, or need two-dimensional drawings for estimating or quality control.
UPI now offers two types of drawing creation services:
Quotation level two-dimensional drawings created from the three-dimensional source data, including all critical dimensions and manufacturing notes, and can be delivered in a variety of electronic file formats.
Fabrication level drawings include all the same information as the quotation level drawings, but include every dimension necessary to fabricate the part.
