Ann Arbor, MI (1888PressRelease)
March 16, 2007 - The recent and ongoing auto worker buyout offers will leave many skilled workers looking for employment. Considering the fact that all three of the legacy automotive manufactures are offering buyout packages, it is unlikely that these displaced workers will find employment with another automotive company in the near future.
Universal Parametrics, Inc. will be hosting an Auto Worker Retraining Boot Camp and Career Fair, March 26 – 30, 2007, at its headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. This week long event will feature an intensive training program to quickly bring participants up to speed in the leading Computer Aided Design (CAD) software called Pro/ENGINEER.
“There are thousands of displaced designers and engineers that are proficient in the use of other CAD software products like Catia, Unigraphics and SDRC Ideas,” says Universal Parametrics Vice President, Steve Frey, “but unfortunately those are CAD systems primarily used by the automotive companies that are currently downsizing.”
The United States government is standardized on Pro/ENGINEER, and as a result, defense contractors are as well. Pro/ENGINEER is also widely used in the agriculture, industrial, consumer and medical products industries.
Frey goes on to say, “Right now, military projects are where it’s at. Defense contractors can’t hire enough people fast enough, but you can’t get through the front door without knowing Pro/ENGINEER.”
In addition to the training program, students will participate in discussions about trends in the design and engineering industry, and employment opportunities at Universal Parametrics. Registration deadline for the Boot Camp is March 21, 2007 and the number of seats is limited. Students mentioning discount code BCW1307 will receive $200 off the registration price.
