July 15, 2008 - RIDING THE LOW’s debut EP ‘THEY WILL ROB YOU OF YOUR GIFTS’ is released as download-only on Clinical Finish/Genepool on 7th July 2008, and will be available from all the obvious digital places in all the obvious digital formats.
The band live in or around the midland brewing town of Burton on Trent, and formed in late 2006.
The EP features tracks written by frontman Paddy Considine, known for his award-winning acting and filmmaking, in partnership with guitarist Chris Baldwin. Considine injects the same visceral energy into the music as he has into his best known film roles with Baldwin providing the solid musical backbone.
The band also comprises of guitarist Dan Baker, bassist Rich Eaton, and drummer Justin Chambers. They party with their fans at shows, playing an array of their original material as demand requires.
The EP was recorded and produced by Alan Smyth in his Sheffield studio, 2FLY, before being mastered at Nottingham’s CONFETTI by Greg Marshall. Smyth has previously defined the studio output of the likes of Pulp, Arctic Monkeys and Reverend & The Makers whilst Marshall has worked extensively with sound for film; being the driving force behind SPOOL post-production facility.
RIDING THE LOW consider themselves as real current UK contenders in an age where the only available mainstream listening appears lacking in impact, creativity, and dynamic.
Stating US cult indie icon, Robert Pollard, as one of his main musical inspirations Considine explains, “We are a GUIDED BY VOICES’ tribute band, but we play our own songs!!”
