UK Aerospace Manufacturer To Begin Production In Mexico

Parts for commercial jet engines to be manufactured in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico beginning in early 2009.

(1888PressRelease) June 04, 2008 - United Kingdom –based, Trac Precision Machining, part of the Trac Group Ltd, will begin to manufacture turbine blades for commercial jet engines and power generation equipment in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico during the first quarter of 2009.

The company has signed an agreement with The Offshore Group for the initial rental of 18,154 square feet growing to 35,000 feet of industrial space within 3 years, as well as for outsourced manufacturing support, or “shelter,” services at the Roca Fuerte Industrial Park. Trac Tool plans to employ 200 workers at the project‘s maturity.

According to Scott Mawby, the Trac Group’s Business Development Director, “Our decision to go to Mexico was predicated on three exigencies:

• The need to grow production capacity very quickly to meet customer demands;
• The market driven need to lower the base cost for manufacturing;
• The demand by our customers to source in the US currency;

Mexico was the clear cut solution to meet these needs.

One of our biggest customers, Rolls Royce, with whom we will share 50% of the capacity of our operation, recommended that we consider the Offshore Group to be our shelter service provider. We looked at many different locations in Mexico, as well as other service providers. After meeting the Offshore group team the decision was very easy one to make".

Trac Group Ltd achieves optimum solutions for its customers by providing broad and highly specialized service, and by adopting high precision piece part manufacturing and assembly techniques. From its manufacturing facilities in UK, Poland, and, now, Mexico, Trac supplies jigs, tools, fixtures, gauges and special purpose machines to industries exacting standards. The company's expertise includes the aerospace, defense, power generation, medical, Formula 1, automotive and packaging industries.
