July 02, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia - The United States Black Golfers Association, Inc. (USBGA) and J&J Entertainment Foundation, Inc. (J&J) have joined forces to support a worthy cause. Both organizations along with Calvin Peete, 12-time PGA champion, will co-host the Charitable Celebrity-Am Golf Tournament & Clinic at Trump International Golf Club, an exclusive private members-only course in West Palm Beach, Florida, November 1, 2008.
“Creating an alliance with J&J Entertainment Foundation, Inc. to raise capital for a teen center is a perfect example of how for-profits and non-profits work together for a greater good. Helping this youth-focused organization also helps USBGA to achieve its goal. We are supporting and giving back to our future, our children,” states S.E. Day, President and CEO of USBGA.
“J&J Entertainment Foundation, Inc. is launching a $1 million capital campaign to acquire and renovate property for a community center servicing teens in metro Atlanta that will provide academic, arts and sports enrichment programs which are critical needs in our community. Aligning with USBGA and Trump International Golf Club will offer a strong foundation as we bring business leaders together for a spectacular weekend of networking and socializing while supporting a very worthy cause,” states John Eaton, J&J’s Board Chair.
The USBGA is a member-focused, chapter based association, created out of a desire to equalize the game of golf by increasing exposure and accessibility of golf for ethnic golfers of all ages. USBGA will achieve this mission by creating the USBGA Championship Tour, a development tour for ethnic golfers that mirrors the Nationwide Tour® and the Hooters Tour®, which serves as qualifiers for entry into the PGA®. This Tour includes the USBGA National Championship®, HBCU Cup™, and the Military Cup™. Individuals can become members or donate by visiting www.myusbga.com. Membership is $99.00.
J&J Entertainment Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status formed in 2003 by James Rhodes and Jennifer Pasley. In 2008 J&J launched South Fulton Rocks, (SFR) a program focusing on economic development initiatives. A teen community center is the first priority for SFR.
