July 18, 2008 - Team members Dave Donaldson and Robert Dorsey were recently honored at a team meeting for their 5 years of service at Earthbound Media Group (EMG). Principal and Executive Producer Blaine Behringer proudly extended his gratitude to both employees, presenting them with gifts from the executive team. The well-deserved recognition is a true testament to these two young professionals who have been with EMG since its beginnings and have seen it evolve to the quickly-growing company it is today.
Dave Donaldson began his career at EMG as an intern in February 2003 when the company was primarily a filmmaking and production firm. Back then, EMG was known by its former name, Earthbound Interactive, and its original location was based in a small office space in Laguna Hills. As an intern-turned-part-time video editor, Donaldson immediately proved to be a valuable asset with his adept editing, photography and videography skills and actively took part in the production process, working on projects, images and videos for clients such as UCLA, NYU and the University of Miami.
With EMG’s steady growth, Donaldson transitioned into a Project Manager role over the next 4 years. His new responsibilities enabled him to be intricately involved in the planning and coordination of projects. And, the technical and creative problem-solving skills developed while serving in this position would eventually lead him to the role he fills today – Technical Operations Specialist. Today, you can find Donaldson putting his expertise to good use through his responsibilities for maintaining the smooth operations of EMG’s facilities via the implementation of the latest, groundbreaking technology.
“I am very proud to have been a part of EMG’s progressive growth over the last 5 years. When I first started, there were only 5 employees working for EMG, but now there’s over 40. It’s kind of unreal, witnessing the company’s development first-hand,” said Donaldson. “Working within the casual, collaborative environment that EMG fosters has been thrilling. Also, the great coworkers I’ve had over the years have become like a second family to me.”
Just months after Donaldson’s arrival at EMG, Robert Dorsey began his creative career in September 2003. The budding designer immediately began his career with projects involving 3-D modeling, animation and motion graphics. Although he was new to working for an agency serving such dynamic and challenging industries, Dorsey proved to be an avid and quick learner, acquiring the necessary skills on the job in web design, print collateral, filmmaking, interactive and rich media to produce high quality – and regularly award-winning – work.
Responsible for creating a large portion of EMG’s interactive art direction and design, Dorsey developed into an inspired and motivated designer. And due to his proficiency across a wide range of illustration, rendering and graphics programs and ongoing professional development, he transitioned into the position of Art Director this past spring. In his newest role, Dorsey serves as a mentor and advocate for EMG’s creative team while continuing to execute client creative deliverables and projects.
“I’m just amazed at how these past 5 years have flown by. With EMG’s success over the years, it’s great to know that we still continue to keep our quality of work so high to this day,” explained Dorsey. “I look forward to working for a company that continues to grow and progress. From our talented, multidisciplinary team to our great perks, EMG seems to raise the bar with everything. So, here’s to another 5 years!”
