October 09, 2007 - The Mothman is recorded as first being sighted by Lonnie Sutton on November 12, 1966 near Clendenin, West Virginia but wasn't reported until later. 3 days later, 2 couples witnessed the Mothman about 7 miles north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. They claimed that the creature chased them while they sped away at speeds in excess of 100mph. Many sightings have been reported ever since with alarmingly similar descriptions of the creature.
A native of Virginia, Travis Shortt has been interested in the paranormal, supernatural, and occult since a very young age. He holds a degree in English with a concentration in Communication from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and is near completion on his Master’s in Theology from Master’s International School of Divinity. He trained early in his life to be a minister. His professional background is in broadcasting, marketing, and public relations. In 1998 he and Charlie McCracken launched ADVANTURE Media an advertising agency, public relations, and media production company based in Norton VA. For this company, Travis held the title of President and Managing Partner. Between 1998 and 2003 this company provided services for 115 clients in 14 states. This firm was sold in 2003 and in March of the same year, he, Charlie McCracken, and Matthew Fleming formed Black River Films in order to investigate and pursue topics of personal interest. He currently serves as Director of Communication for Black River Films and is in charge of publicity surrounding all projects. He is also the host, narrator, producer, researcher, and writer of Dark Wings: The Mothman Chronicle.
