September 22, 2009 - Transoft Solutions, developers of industry leading software for the engineering and architectural communities the world over, have been experiencing a higher than expected interest level in the recently launched software, SIGMA. Professionals from 30 state and provincial departments of transportation, over 30 city departments of transportation, and from Engineering News Records’ top 100 AEC firms have attended the free webcasts or have requested to be a part of a future presentation. To accommodate the high interest level, more public webcast demonstrations have been made available. Individualized presentations are also being made available by request.
“Developing traffic signing plans is an involved process and having software that stream lines that process is an immeasurably valuable productivity enhancing tool,” says Michael Frost, Product Manager. “We set out to give the industry a powerful tool and we are extremely excited at the interest that it has generated.”
The SIGMA software gives traffic engineers the ability to visualize, create, and place sign assemblies into roadway drawings with CAD signs from federal and regional libraries or user generated content. Additionally, SIGMA helps users reduce errors with visually clear and properly positioned signs. Sign assemblies can be precisely placed along a roadway in relation to other geometric elements while maintaining safe clearances. SIGMA’s reporting features give users all they need for new projects and for maintaining existing designs. The software comes with the user’s choice of a federal or regional standard sign library. Currently there are over 6000 to choose from with more to come in the near future. Supplemental CAD sign libraries can be added in addition to the full utilization of libraries of user drafted blocks/cells and/or guide panels designed using GuidSIGN.
Launched in July of 2009 with fully attended series of webcast demonstrations, requests to take part in webcasts have dramatically increased. Since the launch presentations, all but one public webcast has been fully attended. According to feedback obtained from attendees after each presentation, the key to the increased demand is due to SIGMA’s potential to be widely adopted as a workhorse software by engineers who work with signing plans.
