December 24, 2008 - About the 2009 Toyota Avalon
The all new 2009 Toyota Avalon is a premier, full-size passenger sedan. It is a front-wheel driven vehicle that is offered in XL, XLS, and Limited trims. For 2009, some safety features that were optional earlier have been made standard; it also gets satellite radio pre-wiring.
Engine
The 2009 Toyota Avalon runs on a 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve Dual VVT-i V6 engine that generates 268 horsepower and 248 lb ft of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) and sequential shift.
Interiors and exteriors
While 16-inch alloy wheels, a six-disc CD changer and automatic climate control are standard for the XL trim; the XLS trim has 17-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof and leather upholstery as standard. The Limited is given an upgraded audio system and heated/ventilated front seats.
MP3/WMA playback capability; AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with satellite radio capability; in-glass antenna; nine speakers; FM diversity reception and auxiliary audio jack are standard on both the XL and XLS trims.
For seating, the XL trim gets as standard 60/40 split manually reclining rear seats that are made of contoured fabric; locking trunk pass-through and center armrest with cup holders. The XLS and Limited trims get these as well, but with leather-trimmed seats.
Safety
The 2009 Toyota Avalon’s standard safety features include active front head restraints; a driver's side knee airbag; front side-impact airbags; brake assist; anti-lock disc brakes; overhead curtain airbags for front and rear occupants and vehicle stability and traction control systems.
