  • (1888PressRelease) September 15, 2011 - NAMAC President Otto Snel and his members were so impressed by the new market and its ethos that they agreed to the tie up for the first time ever. Speaking about the endorsement, Snel said "We are very pleased with the new connection between NAMAC and Toy Collector - the site provides a place for collectors to buy and sell which has been specifically designed to cater for their needs and we are very impressed with how this has been done."

The group behind Toy Collector are collectors and web professionals who embarked on the venture out of frustration with certain aspects of eBay's treatment of the collectable toy and model market, and those who buy and sell within it. As such, the new platform has been specially tailored to the collectables market, will ultimately cater to both antique and modern items and offer a host of features designed to benefit both buyers and sellers in this popular arena, including the following:

    • Rapid listing process
    • Free image uploads
    • Advanced search design
    • No listing fees or payment fees
    • Amazon-style integrated payment system
    • Maximum protection for both buyers and sellers
    • Feedback for both buyers and sellers

Launched in Beta mode at the end of July, the Toy Collector market has gone live this week. For launch, the site focused on diecast models, but will shortly open out to include all areas of the collectable toy and model market. Users benefit from a unique interface, allowing rapid listing through ToyPedia, the site's online database of collectable toys and models, low selling fees (sellers pay just an 8% transaction fee), an easy-to-use integrated payment system following the Amazon model and equal protection for both buyers and sellers. On their part, Toy Collector are delighted to have NAMAC on board. Community Manager & Digital Editor Andrew Adamides said "NAMAC are a great example of a cutting-edge collectors' organisation. Their fairs are large, well-attended and well set-out and are a highpoint of the collecting calendar."

NAMAC will also be benefitting from the market's programme for clubs and organisations, whereby the organisation receives a commission for every transaction made by a member (at no cost to either buyer or seller). The programme is part of the site's plans to make its new online market the most collector-friendly available. The site's commission deals are available to any club or organisation similar to NAMAC with a membership of over 5300. For the commission to be received by the club, buyers and sellers must indicate their membership affiliation in the relevant section of their profile. Where users are members of more than one organisation, the commission is split between these organisations.

    About NAMAC

NAMAC began in 1965 as a small group of model car collectors which grew slowly until 1992 when the member magazine "Auto In Miniatuur" was printed for the first time in full colour and went on sale at bookshops and newsagents. In a short time the group grew into an organisation with over 5,000 members. NAMAC now publishes "Auto In Miniatuur" every two months and organises Europe's largest model car swapmeet in Houten (near Utrecht). The event, which takes place six times a year, features over 1,200 metres of stalls and is attended by visitors from all over Europe. NAMAC is an all-volunteer organisation.
