September 26, 2009 - Total Woman Gym & Day Spa was a proud sponsor of the 8th Annual Los Angeles Susan G. Komen FASHION FOR THE CURE on September 24th. The sold out event was held at Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood and featured a fashion show of Diane von Furstenberg's Cruise and Pre-Spring Collection. Leading lady Eliza Dushku ("Dollhouse") hosted the glamorous evening and celebrity runway models included Denise Richards, Alison Sweeney, Mya, Jeannie Mai, Wanda Colon and Caroline D'amore.
The crowd was brought to their feet when eight cancer survivor models proudly strutted down the runway. And, Dr. V. Krishnan Ramanujan, Assistant Professor at Cedars Sinai Medical Center was honored with the Komen Cancer Researcher Award for his invaluable studies in early detection. The evening ended with a special personal tribute to Total Woman's Brenda Hardy (former General Manager Total Woman Laguna Hills) who recently lost her battle with cancer. Brenda's courageous story and her special spirit was shared with the entire audience and she is dearly missed by all.
In Brenda's honor, 500 guests were gifted a complimentary 30-day Total Woman membership and each cancer survivor model received a complimentary one year Total Woman membership. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to Susan G. Komen. Total Woman Gym & Day Spa will be working closely with Los Angeles County Affiliate Susan G. Komen to develop other fundraising projects.
