November 03, 2009 - Power-Win (Taiwan Power Supply Manufacturer) has introduced their new digitally controlled Medical 500 Watts Series power supply that is designed specifically with medical applications in mind. The PW-500B series of 500 watts (500W) single output power supply includes a grounded single output, single phase, switching power supply with active PFC and an optional active current share function utilizing a built-in high efficiency OR-ing FET diode and includes a good quality dual ball bearing Fan. This switching power supply meets Safety, EMC, and RoHS requirements.
PW-500B series of 500 watts (500W) single output power supply meets the rigorous international safety standards of IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment, making it suitable for use in B and BF type medical applications. The 8*4.67*1.5 inch switching medical power supply complies with UL 60601, EN60601, IEC60601 standards. Regulated DC outputs of 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 54V or 57VDC are standard and other voltages can be provided. Medical equipment is highly regulated and held to a higher level of safety than nearly all other types of equipment on the market since the performance of power supplies in such applications can be potentially life-saving. The international safety standard for medical equipment is IEC60601-1 and there are three regional variants: EN60601-1 in Europe, UL60601-1 in the US, and CSA22.2 No 60601.1 in Canada. In all cases, the legislation covers protection against electric shock, protection against fire and mechanical hazards. IEC is the International Electrotechnical Committee. UL, CSA and TUV standards are derived from the IEC standards. It's important to consider how these standards affect the design and specification of power supplies used in medical applications.
