October 22, 2007 - An army of festive nannies from Tinies are providing a unique new service to take the strain out of Christmas shopping.
The team of extra nannies can be booked for just a few hours by parents who want to get to the shops without their children in tow.
Tinies, which provides nannies and nursery staff around the UK, has drafted in extra childcarers to deal with the Christmas rush. They have also developed the scheme so a nanny does not have to be booked for the whole day. Families can also come together and share the nannies.
And with official research showing that the average adult spends just short of 11 hours Christmas shopping, and one in five taking 21 hours, it is plugging a problem for parents who want to get around the shops without putting their children through a festive hell.
All the nannies are qualified and referenced and have their own transport.
Prices start from £15 an hour
Oliver Black, director of Tinies said the festive nannies service had been set up to meet customer demand.
“We were getting a lot of calls around Christmas from parents who needed daytime childcare they could trust on an ad hoc basis so they could get to the shops. All our offices have local qualified nannies who can step in at short notice to take the pain of shopping with children away,” he said.
