April 27, 2007 - Meetings truly go to the dogs at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. The “Dog Day Afternoons Break” includes bone-shaped cookies and paw-shaped chocolates served with milk. The break is hosted by Catie Copley, the hotel’s resident Black Labrador and Canine Ambassador who will happily play fetch with guests. Attendees can schedule an appointment for a walk with Catie following the meeting.
The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee allows guests to savor a genuine Milwaukee experience without setting foot outside the hotel. The “Made in Milwaukee Break” is packed with Midwestern goodness including beer brats, deep fried cheese curds, Usinger’s sausage, frozen custard cups and Sprecher sodas. Interesting visual displays such as cheese wheels, local brewery beer displays and “then and now” photographs of Milwaukee and the Pfister Hotel add to the theme.
Hotel Monaco in Washington, D.C., offers “Earth Care Signature Meetings,” which showcase the hotel’s earth-friendly image and the growing popularity of green meetings. The meeting room is outfitted with fresh flowers and plants. Break menus are comprised of organic coffee and fresh, local ingredients. Eco-quizzes, mini Zen rock gardens and earth beach balls can be incorporated for fun and relaxation. All paper goods are recyclable and agendas are printed on plantable paper that attendees can take home with them to grow their own wildflowers.

Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, has identified more than 200 hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architectural and ambiance. To be selected for this program, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized as having historic significance.
