April 20, 2008 - Dr. Tim Harris, Director of Advanced Technology Program and Corporate Vice President of Technology at SAIC-Frederick will be presenting at GTCbio’s 2nd Rediscovering Biomarkers Conference on July 10-11, 2008 in Boston, MA. Dr. Harris will present on “Towards Holistic Molecular Profiling.”
The development of Biomarkers tends to be one marker at a time. The Advanced Technology Program at SAIC Frederick has developed many technologies on behalf of the NCI including those for Genetics and Genomics, Proteins and Proteomics, Biomedical Computing and Imaging and Nanoparticle characterization. All of these technologies have relevance to profiling patients for diagnosis or therapy. Several examples of the work being done will be used to illustrate how information derived from the application of these technologies could be used to do more comprehensive profiling. There are many challenges that will arise from taking this approach, not the least of which is dealing with all the data and deriving useful information from it.
Benefits from the talk include finding out more about the ATP at SAIC Frederick and thinking about how the technology and how apparently diverse data sets can be harnessed effectively to influence clinical decisions.
The 2nd Annual Rediscovering Biomarkers Conference will expose attendees to the latest advancements and developments in biomarkers and predictive medicine. Attendees will gain insight into discovery and development processes, hear about new biomarkers and upcoming trends in the industry, as well as the status of those in clinical trials. Delegates will also receive highly valuable information on tools for improving reimbursement strategies and the efficacy and validation of biomarkers.
