April 24, 2009 - Dubai: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed and exchanged between the University of Fraser Valley (UFV), British Columbia from Canada and Manipal University. This relationship between the two Universities envisages the students of BBM (E-Banking and Finance at Manipal)and BBA (Manipal-Dubai Campus) to continue their studies at the University of Fraser Valley in British Columbia in Canada. with a provision for 100 Percent Credits transfer. A similar plan is in the pipeline for students of Information Sciences at the Manipal-Dubai campus. Students studying at UFV's Chandigarh campus in India will be offered to do a few courses with the Department of Commerce at Manipal.
According to the 2008 Globe and Mail's Canadian University Report, the University of the Fraser Valley was ranked as the top public university in British Columbia for overall quality of education, quality of teaching, most satisfied students, best student- faculty interaction, and best career preparation. In Geopolitical terms British Columbia on the Western side of Canada is seen to be the next immigration hotspot for Asians. Experts feel that British Columbia could replicate what happened with the Eastern Coast of North America when a large number of Europeans migrated there. Canada is making all efforts to ensure that the atmosphere is conducive for students and prospective immigrants coming from countries like India and China. Students could look forward for something more than just studying. Canada offers these students work permits which allow them to work while they study and earn to support their basic needs. The students after their study also have greater opportunities and easier access to opt for Canadian citizenship.
Dubai campus to offer exciting Media Management course - One year of training at Dubai and one year at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods Institute in Mumbai.
Manipal University(MU) Dubai campus has entered into an agreement with the Whistling Woods International Ltd to offer a two year MBA programme in Media Management. The world's most enthralling and best known hub of activity Dubai and the birthplace of Bollywood Mumbai, two cities that make a deadly cocktail! The course seems to be offering its aspirants a good experience of the global melting pots of cultures. While the first year of the programme will be conducted at MU-Dubai campus covering all general management subjects and media case studies, the second year of the programme consists of one year of internship / industrial training at Whistling Woods premises located at Mumbai. A six month Certificate programme in Media would also be offered to students at Dubai campus.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT)
This MBA (M&E) Programme combines the best of both worlds – Business and Entertainment, by coupling managerial tools and frameworks on the one hand and a deep understanding of creative Media processes on the other. The two- year MBA programme in Media and Entertainment will have specialisations in Film, Broadcasting, New and interactive Media and Event Management.
The First Year of the Programme would be conducted at Manipal University’s Campus in Bangalore and will cover both General Management Principles and the business of Entertainment. The second year of the Programme offers a hands-on experience by exposing students to actual media technologies and content creation modules at Whistling Woods International located in Mumbai’s Film City.
Biotech Twinning Program with UK’s Lancaster University
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between the Department of Biotechnology & Engineering of the Manipal University- Dubai Campus and the School of Health and Medicine which is a part of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Lancaster University, UK.
The students will be offered an alternative pathway into international higher education in the UK and it is hoped that it will also facilitate the exchange of staff and provide opportunity for joint research projects. An academic study fund would be established to facilitate staff exchanges
• 1 + 2 degree program for Biotechnology students leading to the award of Bachelor of Science degrees from Lancaster University. Students entering this program would spend the first year in Manipal-Dubai's Department of Biotechnology and the last two years of their studies at the LU School of Health and Medicine.
• 2 + 2 degree program for engineering students leading to award of bachelor of engineering degrees from Lancaster University. Students entering this programme would spend their first two years in MU Dubai's Department of Engineering and the last two years of the studies at the LU Faculty of Science and Technology.

They will also need to provide two academic references with their application.
