Three Ambassadors inaugurated annual International Fest 'One World'at LPU

  • (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2016 - Providing a common platform to international students from 40 countries to represent heritage of their respective country, LPU organizes its annual international fest "One World". This year the 7th fest is being celebrated on the theme of "Promoting World Peace" for two days. His Excellency Mr. Alem Tsehaye Worldemariam (Ambassador of Eritrea to India), H.E. Mr. Illiassou Ali (Ambassador of Niger to India), and H.E. Mr. Samake Niankoro Yeah (Ambassador of Mali to India) inaugurated the international cultural extravaganza at the campus. Prior to this, the fest was flagged off for two kilo-meter long colourful cultural procession which comprised 40+ international tableaus. Showcasing and upholding cultural inheritance of their respective country, international students kept on dancing & singing all the way. Celebrating the theme of the year, students were holding placards with slogans "One Human Family", "International Peace for World", "The Sunny Side of Life", "Peace through Education", "Give Peace a Chance", "More Power to the Peace" and many more. Nepalese students exhibited that their country never participated in world-war, and not even a single drop of blood has been shed on their motherland out of any kind of war.

    International students were seen with dresses, ornaments and other attributes of their respective country. Continuing years of celebrations at 4 venues of the campus through 40 exhibition stalls, 2000 international students mesmerized 30000+ campus audiences. Maintaining global unity, Indian students, too, participated along with their International counterparts in different celebrations.

    Welcoming the elite guests from Eritrea, Niger & Mali and congratulating all participants at the fest, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: "At LPU, we motivate our international students to celebrate this mega-fest by showcasing and sharing their cultures and values with students of other countries. This celebration of diversity helps students in strengthening bonds of unity in diversity and in imbibing global understanding also."

    Students also showcased myths, folk-lore, tribal-tales, urban development, music, dance-forms, literature, chivalry, currencies, attires, languages and other achievements. Thousands of on-looking students witnessed and enjoyed the spirit of 'One World'. Participating 40 countries included students from China, South Africa, Bhutan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Cameroon, Yemen, Nigeria, Mali, Maldives, Zambia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Thailand, Kazakhstan and more.

    One of the students from China Yijing Li (B Sc- Physiotherapy) shared: "At China, we all want International peace. Here at LPU, we Chinese students are very happy to represent our country. We are happy to see that students of other countries enjoyed dragon dance of our culture with a feeling of oneness." Sri Lankan student Anjali Ishara of B Com Professional Program, Marifou Sampy of BBA from Mali, Rinchen Dorji of BBA IT from Bhutan, Lintel Flora Lebona of Physiotherapy from Kingdom of Lesotho, Zaid Abdiwahid of MSc Nutrition & Dietetics Program from Somalia and Anindita Mitra from Bangladesh of MBA program shared unanimously: " The event 'One World' celebration is making us more practical with an elaborated insight into how world can be one leaving aside all intrigues & self interests." Another student from Mauritius, Raveena Bundhoo said: "We understand that the unity among human beings lies in their diversity. We are happy to see that LPU designs this fest so that students with distinctive cultural backgrounds live peacefully, work together to be globally fit citizens and make peace exist all around the world."
