February 19, 2008 - MELBOURNE -- IT security VAR CoreSight today announced the local release of the Akonix L7 Enterprise v7.0 Unified Policy Management (UPM) platform.
Building on their existing leadership position, Akonix has broadened their product offering to provide a cost-effective way in which businesses can manage messaging and collaboration for security and compliance, and protect themselves against threats, data leakage and inappropriate use by employees.
The Akonix L7 Enterprise platform monitors, applies and enforces policy and actions for the corporate use of unified communications (UC) applications. These applications inclue public and enterprise instant messaging (IM), online conferencing, VoIP and electronic faxing.

The L7 Enterprise suite includes modules for setting policy on employee use of public IM such as Google Talk, Microsoft® Windows Live™ Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger - as well as enterprise IM (e.g. IBM Lotus Sametime®, Jabber XCP™ and Microsoft Office Communications Server). The new modules with the v7.0 release support online conferencing, VoIP and server-based faxing.
L7 Enterprise v7.0 integrates with Microsoft’s UC platform, Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007, and consolidates policy management and enforcement across the full OCS 2007 Enterprise Edition. Conferencing and VoIP features for IBM Lotus Sametime 8 will also be available in early 2008, adding to Akonix’s current support for Sametime IM.
