October 27, 2009 - The Working Person’s Store and Carolina Shoe Company today announced the winner of their “Search for the American Worker 3” national competition.
“The Search for the American Worker 3 was a great success”, said Eric Deniger, CEO of Working Person’s Store. “When the votes were counted our visitors chose Abram Bettencourt, 24, of Kansas as the quintessential American worker.” Mr. Bettencourt climbs towers for a Kansas Internet provider, installing and maintaining broadband equipment.
“I have a wife and daughter and a son on the way,” said Mr. Bettencourt. “I went through a tough time last March with a layoff from a company that I had been employed with for five years. Times were hard, but thanks to my neighbor I was able to find the job I have now as a tower climber.”
Asked what was rewarding about his job he continued: “People are amazed with what I do (climbing towers). They say ‘there’s no way I would do anything like that’. Also, I enjoy providing my company’s services to our customers.”
Carolina and the Working Person’s Store are working to make life better for the American worker. They share the conviction that quality isn’t a luxury, it’s an absolute necessity. Customers at both Carolina and the Working Person’s Store can shop with confidence knowing the products offered have passed stringent requirements for quality, durability, comfort and outstanding value.
