(1888PressRelease) April 10, 2008 - One estimate for the cost of Pain is $61.2 billion per year. That figure comes from an article by Walter "Buzz" Stewart, PhD, MPH, in the Journal of the American Medical Association. However, that figure is still only part of the whole picture. That staggering sum is only the money drained directly from the U.S. business base, due to lost productivity from employees in pain. Other studies included neck and back pain, headache, and several other musculoskeletal conditions and the numbers were well over 150 billion in lost productivity annually due to pain.

At The Las Vegas Pain Relief Center (LVPRC) you'll find the latest and greatest in dealing with pain. LVPRC provides the most complete integrated services available, with state of the art treatments, administered by the finest certified medical professionals. Our expertise with all categories of pain relief is second to none.

LVPRC utilizes Active Release Techniques® Soft Tissue Management System, ART®, as the largest component in our integrated process; we have a proven success rate that far exceeds 90% for a large range of conditions.

Active Release Techniques® is a patented, soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Soft tissues generally refer to muscles, tendons, ligaments and surrounding soft tissues. Following is a list of just a few of the conditions that can be resolved with ART®: headaches, neck and back pain, herniated discs and associated complaints, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, shin splints, rotator cuff syndrome or shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and Tennis Elbow, just about any soft tissue condition or injury can be helped with ART.
ART® is non-invasive, very safe, and has virtually no side effects. After treatment, there is seldom any bruising seen on the skin as most protocols travel with the venous flow. The ART® process stretches, separates, and releases soft tissue adhesions. The care is aggressive with results that are typically immediate. ART® restores vascular and lymph circulation, increases range of motion, and increases over all strength. ART® essentially prepares the injured tissues for proper rehabilitation. When a soft tissue problem has been resolved, the symptoms will not return unless the injury re-occurs.

To get a better understanding of injuries and how certain injuries affect the body, it is important to first understand a very important concept. It is impossible for muscles, tendons, and ligaments with scar tissue adhesions or tears to function normally at 100%. It is simply impossible! Until the tissues are freed up, they will never function properly. ART is the only soft tissue therapy known to free up scar tissue adhesions.
This simple comparison may help you to think of scar tissues and their affects upon the body’s tissues. Imagine a paintbrush with paint left in the bristles. If you leave the paint in the bristles for any length of time, the bristles start to stick together and adhere to each other. The longer the paint sits on the bristles, the drier and harder the brush becomes. This hard, dry brush is similar to the muscles, tendons and ligaments in your body after an injury. When there is any injury, your body begins the natural healing process and starts to stick the injured tissues together just like the paintbrush. Your body does this to limit further damage or injury. The healing process creates an internal scar very similar to the scars you can see on your skin; however, scars in the soft tissues can be corrected and often returned to normal.

Every ART® session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART® provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tension, movement and function of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed contact tension with very specific movements. After establishing an accurate and specific diagnosis, we treat our patients with specific hands on soft tissue manipulation. Once the lesion is located, the doctor's hand contact(s) moves in the same longitudinal direction as the soft tissue fibers to remove the adhesions. The involved tissues are taken from a shortened to a fully lengthened position. Almost all ART® protocols are performed traveling in the same direction as the muscle fibers.

The interesting part about ART® is that majority of the treatment is performed during the last 10% percent of the patient’s motion. This is when the largest number of restrictions are released. The ART® protocols help tissues to heal by aiding lymphatic and venous drainage, preventing bleeding or bruising, and preventing further inflammation. ART professionals with Advanced ART ® training know exactly how far they can take the tissues to maximize results.

ART protocols are performed at a slow and controlled rate. Fast motions may increase a patient's pain and make for a less effective treatment. Whenever possible, patients are required to perform active movements during the treatment process, as that active motion is vital in removing the restrictions. Active motions also stimulate neurological pathways in the spinal cord that help to reduce pain during treatment. Motion also helps to reproduce the stresses the patient will be under during normal active motion. Patients can expect their strength, speed, and endurance to improve immediately.

Treatments take about 15 minutes or longer for each affected area. A serious condition may require six to ten visits before full functionality is restored. Treatments can feel uncomfortable during the movement portion of the protocol as the scar tissue or adhesions "break-up or apart." This discomfort is temporary and subsides almost immediately after the treatment protocol. Commonly a patient may feel a duplication of their painful symptoms during the treatment; this is a good indication that the true problem has been located and identified. Chiropractic joint manipulations and physical therapy are performed in conjunction with ART® to increase treatment effectiveness.

Repetitive Strain Injuries or RSI’s caused by cumulative trauma are now the major cause of injuries in the workforce. Statistics show that the number of patients suffering from cumulative trauma injuries has now surpassed those suffering from the common cold. RSI cases have increased at a phenomenal rate of 670 % over the last five years.

ART® treats RSI at a rate of over 90% success. However, most employees that finally report Repetitive Strain Injuries have been experiencing telltale symptoms for quite a long time. Many employees wait until the pain or disability is so advanced that it cannot be ignored any longer. In all jobs, it is possible to predict where and how Repetitive Strain Injuries will occur.

By addressing RSI’s early in their progression, a great deal of workers’ compensation claims as well as lost productivity are averted, resulting in a healthier employee base as well as a healthier bottom-line.’
