April 09, 2009 - Jose Wejebe, host of the ESPN2 show The Spanish Fly recently returned from the equatorial region of Brazil after filming David Caywood, the founder of Amazon Angling.com. After 10 days of fishing the white water estuaries of the Rio Travessao, the film crew returned to the states and rushed into production the first of four shows, with the first to air this Sunday at 08:30 CST on ESPN 2.
Wejebe and Caywood are seen exploring the vast section of the Rio Travessao for exotic species of fish as their Indian counterparts pilot their dug out canoe to places no one has ever been before. Beginning with the arrival of the float plane from Manaus, Brazil, Wejebe steps into Caywood’s world as the two first shake hands on the equator. What follows later is captured in High Definition by a very well seasoned film crew.
“The logistics were like placing a piano on top of a flag pole. Everything works against you.” according to David Caywood, group leader and founder of Amazon Angling.com “People really get excited when they reel in their first Payara or Redtail Catfish and to get it all recorded in high def makes the logistics of getting a film crew around in the jungle worthwhile” Caywood adds.
Everything else remains to be seen, this Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 08:30 AM CST on ESPN2 and it all started in Memphis, TN.
