January 22, 2008 - The South Camden Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theatre located in Camden, New Jersey, announces the third play of its third season. "That Championship Season", by Jason Miller will be directed by Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki, and will be performed from February 1 – 17, 2008*. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 8PM and Sunday afternoons at 1:30 PM. *Please note: There will be no performance on Friday, February 15.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the Tony Award, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as best play of the season, "That Championship Season" is an overwhelming critical and popular success, this brilliant, powerful play brings pathos, humor and deep compassion to its penetrating study of four former teammates who meet for a reunion with their high-school coach. The South Camden Theatre Company will produce one additional production this season: "The Old Settler" by John Henry Redwood. The company plans to move into the new 99 seat Waterfront South Theatre next season which is being built at the corner of 4th and Jasper Streets in Camden, New Jersey; the former home of Walt's Cafe a bar owned by Paprzycki's grandparents and the setting for his first play, "Last Rites". The story of the new Waterfront South Theatre has recently been featured in "New Jersey Monthly" and "South Jersey" magazines.
All performances are currently held on stage in the basement of Sacred Heart Church at Broadway and Ferry Avenue in Camden New Jersey where free parking is available.
