October 29, 2009 - The Sound of Water is an award-winning debut novel of Sanjay Bahadur, the ex-Director of The Indian Ministry of Coal. Nominated for the 2007 Man Asian Literary Prize and The Vodafone Crossword Book Award 2008, the gripping novel is loosely based on the Coal mining disaster of the Bagdidhi in 2001.
The book has been published in India by Roli Books and Internationally by Simon and Schuster. The latest edition of The Sound of Water is also available in Trade Paperback and as an e-book in digital format. The Sound of Water would be a major attraction at the London Book Fair in 2010. About the Author :
Sanjay Bahadur has advanced degrees in economics and business administration and has been a member of the Indian Civil Service since 1989. From 2000 to 2004 he was a director in the Indian Ministry of Coal, where he observed the Bagdighi disaster close up; today he works in Delhi, where he is Additional Commissioner of Income Tax. He is at work on his second novel, which is set during the Great Indian Revolt of 1857.
