WHY: With North Carolina unemployment holding steady at 10.8%, more and more North Carolinians are joining the Indie (independent) Business Revolution and starting businesses of their own. But when it comes to using the Internet and free and low cost social media technologies to grow their businesses, many of them don’t know how to get started.
Today, nearly every company uses at least one social media site to communicate with existing customers and attract new ones. United Airlines offers discounted air fares on its Twitter site. Starbucks gives away prizes to people who post photos of Starbucks posters onto Starbucks’s Facebook page.
This event is designed to take the mystery out of new technologies and social media for small business owners by showing you how to use sites like Twitter, Facebook, a blog and LinkedIn to grow your business. There will be a healthy discussion about how to use the power of the Internet in general to develop relationships and expand the sphere of influence for your small business.
Small and independent business owners, artists, crafts persons and entrepreneurs from all walks of life are encouraged attend!
