  • San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) March 29, 2011 - In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center (the Center) will host its 14th Annual Blue Ribbon Luncheon on Thursday, April 7th, 2011, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel located at 950 Mason Street in San Francisco. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Center's mission of preventing child abuse and neglect, promoting healthy families and the mental health of children.

Nationally-renowned pediatrician and author of The Happiest Baby on the Block, Dr. Harvey Karp, will keynote the event and founder of the Child Abuse Council and TALK Line, Dr. Moses Grossman, will be honored for his influential role in improving the lives of children and inspiring generations of people to take action against child abuse. Emmy-Award winning Co-Anchor of ABC 7/KGO TV, Cheryl Jennings, will host. Last year in San Francisco alone, approximately 6,000 cases of child abuse were reported. Child abuse not only endangers a child's physical and emotional health, but it also affects their development. By providing supportive services to children and families, the Center helps break the vicious cycle of abuse and provides children with the opportunity to grow up in a safe and healthy environment.

The Blue Ribbon Luncheon is open to the public. Individual tickets begin at $175 and sponsorships begin at $2,500. For more information, to purchase tickets for the event or to donate directly to the organization, please visit www.sfcapc.org/special_events.
