Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease)
July 21, 2007 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - - Philadelphia is gearing up to take the city’s innovative thinking to new heights in bringing the city’s talents to the World Wide Web. One of the first US cities to establish and employ an accessible Internet initiative or citywide WiFi solution, “the city of brotherly love” is preparing to introduce the Philadelphia sound using the Internet and live radio streaming technology to globally broadcast a traditional American jam session.
Started for Philadelphia’s world famous Ms. Tootsies, September of ’07, the event revitalizes a tradition and celebrates the memory and culture of a forgotten era. Events from this time sparked exclusive, impromptu historical performances from such greats as Billy Holiday, Thelonious Monk, The Rolling Stones and Jimmy Hendrix evoked by the simplest faction – the love of the art. Likewise, the industry – only venue audience is expected to set a tone casually inspiring collaborator efforts that may include internationally renowned artists like Jill Scott, The Roots, Muzik Soulchild, Floetry, Robin Thicke, Jaguar Wright, Kem and a host of others.
“The Sound of Philly,” as the event has been titled, is designed to serve as a pilot and one of the many marketing efforts that will assist in promoting “The World Party presents…” tentatively scheduled in Las Vegas, October, ’07.
Amin Greene, Godson of Philadelphia’s music pioneer Kenny Gamble and native son of Philadelphia, explained. “I grew up hearing about these types of intimate, backdoor impromptu encounters. Where some of the greats reacted to the tone of the set, Those unplanned moments when they didn’t think about it. They just did what they felt. This will be an evening filled with magic.” Greene continued, “What happens that night will never be replicated – musical moments in history. I am excited for Philadelphia and the global music loving Internet community”.
Tickets for this Internet – exclusive, one-time event will go on sale early August. This will be one of the most participated events of the Internet. Planners have preliminary online estimates of 50 million viewers worldwide. The event is scheduled to be accessible over cellular and traditional Internet networks.
