The Mouse Is Mighty In 2008

Wanart Honors the Year of the Mouse with Chinese Zodiac-inspired Line of Products

New York, NY (1888PressRelease) January 01, 2008 - With the advent of the Chinese New Year on February 7, 2008, Wanart LLC, a design studio based in Hoboken, New Jersey, honors the Year of the Mouse (also known as Rat) with its line of infant bodysuits, tote bags and note cards featuring the Lunar Babies, characters inspired by the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

The Chinese New Year is the most important traditional Chinese holiday. The mouse is just one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, the others being ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. According to Chinese tradition, each animal is associated with unique personality traits. Those born in the Year of the Mouse are generous, inquisitive, sociable and fun-loving individuals who value a wide variety of friendships and contacts. They work really hard for their goals and have a tremendous capacity for pursing a course to its end. They have a natural talent for the arts, especially in writing. Some notable people born in the Year of the Mouse are William Shakespeare, George Washington, Marlon Brando, Winston Churchill and Al Gore.

Wanart’s charming Lunar Babies characters are featured on note cards, tote bags and infant bodysuits. Note cards are available for each zodiac sign and contain information on the back explaining the sign’s defining characteristics. The note cards are blank inside so can be used for any variety of purposes such as birthday cards, birth announcements or thank you notes. Wanart’s embroidered infant bodysuits are cleverly packaged in clear, mini takeout-style gift boxes with matching gift enclosure cards. Wanart’s canvas tote bags featuring the whimsical animal babies are becoming an increasingly popular product as people are becoming more conscientious about the environment. Each tote bag is individually cut, hand-stitched and screen-printed with the least impact on the environment as possible. All of Wanart’s products are made in the United States.

The story of Wanart began with a child's love for art. Joyce Wan, Wanart's Founder, designed her first greeting card at the tender age of six for a city-wide greeting card design contest. The design won first place and was subsequently mass-produced and sold through a major department store chain. Twenty years later, Wan turned that early success into inspiration for a line of greeting cards featuring designs that merge a contemporary design aesthetic with Asian cultural influences and traditions. Today, in addition to its line of greeting cards, Wanart offers a variety of gift and stationery items along with custom greeting cards, invitations and announcements for corporate and personal use. The products featuring her Lunar Babies characters are still Wanart’s best-selling. Wanart products can be found at gift stores, specialty boutiques and museum shops in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, France, United Kingdom and online at www.wanart.com.
