April 23, 2009 - Praised by the Edmonton Journal for her singing with "sensuous warmth, great reserves of power and emotional expressiveness", Barbara Fris is one of Canada's finest singers. As "one of Toronto’s most artistic, creative and inspiring women" (Luminato Festival, 2008), she continues to have a luminous career captivating audiences on the international opera, concert and recital stages. Her personal charisma and vocal beauty continue to endear her to audiences.
Ms. Fris' programme offering includes R. Strauss' "Four Last Songs", Canadian composers Jana Skarecky's "Planet Earth" and Mary Gardiner's "A Pot of Gold", R. Wagner's "Wesendonck Lieder", "Glück das mir verblieb", (Marietta's lied) from Erich Wolfgang Korngold's "Die tote Stadt", and summer audience favourites from the world of opera (Programme Subject to Change).
