The McMichael Art Gallery Concert Series presents Vocal Gems: Strauss & Wagner with Barbara Fris, Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m

The celebrated Canadian soprano sings in this recital with accompanist Hyuntak Lee. Their programme offering includes R. Strauss' "Four Last Songs", Canadian composers Jana Skarecky's "Planet Earth" and Mary Gardiner's "A Pot of Gold", R. Wagner's "Wesendonck Lieder", Marietta's lied ("Die tote Stadt") and summer audience favourites for Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.

As "one of Toronto’s most artistic, creative and inspiring women" (Luminato Festival, 2008), she continues to have a luminous career captivating audiences on the international opera, concert and recital stages. Her personal charisma and vocal beauty continue to endear her to audiences.

Ms. Fris' programme offering includes R. Strauss' "Four Last Songs", Canadian composers Jana Skarecky's "Planet Earth" and Mary Gardiner's "A Pot of Gold", R. Wagner's "Wesendonck Lieder", "Glück das mir verblieb", (Marietta's lied) from Erich Wolfgang Korngold's "Die tote Stadt", and summer audience favourites from the world of opera (Programme Subject to Change).
