November 21, 2007 - Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard is preparing to host former England Rugby Union and A Question of Sport captain Bill Beaumont. Bill will be appearing at The Maynard on Thursday 6 December at 7.30pm as the guest of honour and key speaker at a dinner benefiting The Ruskin Charity.
Tickets for the event are selling well and it will be interesting to see what Bill’s take will be on recent developments in the England Rugby Union camp. A few places are still remaining; the ticket price is £70 per person including a three course meal, with profits going to The Ruskin Charity. Numbers are strictly limited. Paul Downing, director at The Maynard, said: “Since we first booked Bill to speak, the England Rugby team have been transformed from a bunch of underdogs into World Cup finalists who came very close to retaining the trophy. It will be very interesting to hear what Bill really thinks about the current England management set-up, and what the future holds for English Rugby as a whole.
”We understand from people who have seen him in action that Bill is an excellent speaker and his sporting anecdotes are both entertaining and enlightening. Bill will be doing book signings on the night, and will be happy to answer questions from the audience. Next in line for The Maynard is boxing legend Frank Bruno, who has been booked in for 21 February 2008.
