August 06, 2008 - The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation declares a triumph over the system as Liz has now been approved for medi-cal after waiting over 8 weeks.
The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation works daily to Financially Support those without health insurance so they receive the medical care they so deserve as quickly as possible. Address the informational needs of people living with lung cancer and their loved ones. Provide compassion and support to those facing the many challenges of lung cancer. Increase lung cancer awareness and Bring optimism to families living with lung cancer.
The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation is proud to donate two gift baskets to the 2008 Rancho Bernardo Pop Warner Walkathon! This donation will help raise money for children of the Rancho Bernardo Pop Warner football league general fund which is used toward operating and capital expenses each year for items not covered by registration fees. In addition, at this event, each team has the opportunity to raise funds to be used by their team during the season to cover team expenses. The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation firmly believes football and other activities will keep kids off the street and keep them from smoking, one of the leading causes of lung cancer.
This is only one of the many ways The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation works daily to bring awareness to lung cancer and the risks of smoking. The 2006 World Health Organization’s Global Tobacco Youth survey showed by the age of 13 to 15, at least 37.3 percent of children had tried smoking.
It's no secret that most adult smokers started as kids. Among adults in the United States who have ever been daily smokers, 82 percent had their first cigarette before they turned 18. And 53 percent of them became daily smokers before they could legally buy tobacco, according to a report by the Surgeon General. In Washington , by the sixth grade, one-quarter of students have tried cigarettes. By their senior year in high school, about 70 percent of them have tried cigarettes.
The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation is working diligently to change these numbers, through awareness, consciousness and providing the future leaders of the world another option.
The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation began on July 9, 2008 with one purpose in mind to help those faced with this horrible disease, living without insurance, find and receive the medical treatment they so deserve. Often the middle class hard working are often the ones that can not get the help and support needed during such a tough time. The Liz Martocci Lung Cancer Foundation is here to help those faced with the challenges of the “system” while offering support, resources and compassion.
