February 13, 2008 - The Kids Wish Network grants wishes for chronically ill children. They organized a group of retailers to grant the wish of 16-year-old Tonyesia of Macon, Georgia.
Tonyesia is a scholastic superstar at her school who was stricken and diagnosed with the crippling disease multiplesclorosis more than a year ago. She had been having a series of migraine headaches and woke up one day and her whole right side was numb. After a spinal test came back positive, she was diagnosed with M.S., which is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. She has to endure many doctor’s visits and has to give herself beta interferon shots daily as well as having a nurse come monthly to give steroid injections. This brave young girl, who hates needles, has had to learn to deal with pain on a daily basis.
Despite all of this Tonyesia is strong in her pleasant attitude. Tonyesia is a very spirited young lady, who loves school and is an “A” student. She loves to sing and is in her church choir. She loves Gospel music and R & B. Her favorite color is purple and she likes pizza and Chinese food
Directed by Jill Atchison, Wish Coordinator with The Kid’s Wish Network, the following retailers and suppliers were organized to make Tonyesia’s wish a reality. They are:
Bert Maxwell Furniture Company-Bert Maxwell-Macon, GA-Arranged for furniture to be donated.
Suppliers from Macon, Georgia; Marietta, Georgia; Greensboro, North Carolina, Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as those located as far away as New York City; Marlborough, New Hampshire, Frisco, Texas, and Catalina, California provided the necessary materials with direction from designer Patty Downs who as noted donated accessories for Tonyesia’s new room.
On the day the room was completed Tonyesia received the star treatment as she was whisked away to pick up her new television set in a luxury limousine provided by ALLSTARS Limousine and ACentral Georgia Livery Service. The fortunate teen was also treated to luncheon with her mother and other family members at the Macon Olive Garden Restaurant.
