July 30, 2007 - WHAT: The Johnny Souza Jazz All-Stars featuring Trumpeter/vocalist Johnny Souza return with a new show at Cancun Mexican Restaurant on August 10, 2007.
The Johnny Souza Jazz All-Stars Show had a very successful 2 year run at Ricky T's Blues & Jazz Club in Plymouth, MA from 2000 - 2002. The weekly series featuring trumpeter/vocalist Johnny Souza and his rotating line-up along with a special guest attracted jazz fans and music fans from far and wide.
The different line-ups included the top jazz musicians in New England including Gray Sargent, Donna Byrne, Dick Johnson, Lou Columbo, Dino Govoni, Al Vega, Ray Santisi and many more. The shows were a hit, not just among audiences but among all the participating musicians who considered the gig "the most creative, fun and happening gig on the South Shore!" Now, after a hiatus of several years due to the closing of Ricky T’s and the many requests to bring it back; the show is returning at a new venue!
The Aug 10 show starts at 8:00 PM and the band will be performing songs in the styles of Sinatra, Cole Porter, Bobby Darrin, Diana Krall, Etta James, Michael Buble and more.
The lineup will feature Johnny Souza/trumpet & vocals, Leah Souza/vocals, Michael Shea/piano, Dave Landoni/bass, Rick Klane/drums and special guest Arnie Krakowsky/saxophone.
Arnie Krakowsky has performed with such greats as: Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Lionel Hampton, Red Rodney, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Band and The Artie Shaw Orchestra. His recordings include: “Is it Mine or Yours?” (2004) and "Where the Tenor Meets the Bone." (1996)
