The Hoyle Brothers Release Anticipated Third CD, Don’t Leave Yet

The Hoyle Brothers, a Chicago-based traditional country band, release their third CD, Don't Leave Yet. The cd features 15 original songs that showcase traditional country music for modern times.

(1888PressRelease) May 18, 2009 - Chicago - The Hoyle Brothers, Chicago’s honky tonk music stalwarts, have officially released their third full-length CD, “Don’t Leave Yet.”

The CD features 14 all-original songs and a tasteful remake of Waylon Jennings’ “Anita You’re Dreaming.” The independent release showcases The Hoyle Brothers’ A-list musicianship and heart-felt mastery of traditional country shuffles, two-beats, ballads and barn-burners.

“Don’t Leave Yet”—described by one advance reviewer as “salt of the earth country music”—builds from the band’s previous releases in both personnel and production:

• Singer Trevor McSpadden, a San Marcos, Texas native, joined the band in early 2007 and brings a soothing tenor and charm. McSpadden contributed the bulk of the songwriting credits to “Don’t Leave Yet,” including the emotive title cut. Guitarist Steve Doyle and drummer Lance Helgeson also earn songwriting credits on the CD.

• The Hoyle Brothers recorded and produced “Don’t Leave Yet” with engineer producer Neil Ostrovsky at B-Side Audio in early 2009. The sessions were “live” with minimal overdubbing.

“The CD has the warmth, spontaneity and punch of our live show, which is what we wanted,” McSpadden says. “It was a true collective effort that we had fun putting together. We think it shows.”

The Hoyle Brothers headline a CD release party at 9 p.m. on June 25, 2009, at Martyrs’ (www.martyrslive.com) with openers the C&E Jug Band (featuring Devil in a Woodpile alumni) and Southern Illinois’ caustic acoustic band, The Woodbox Gang.

About The Hoyle Brothers: The five-piece band formed in Chicago in 2002 and began a weekly, honky tonk happy hour residency at The Hideout. Later that year, The Hoyle Brothers moved their weekly show to the Empty Bottle. The seven-year run of good-timin’ fun continues, and The Hoyle Brothers—Trevor McSpadden (vocals/acoustic guitar), Brian Wilkie (pedal steel), Steve Doyle (guitar), Josh Piet (bass) and Lance Helgeson (drums)—remain “Chicago’s finest real country band.”
