August 22, 2006 - Loudoun Pianist-Composer Jennifer Warren-Baker Will Perform Her Original Piano Music In September 16 Concert
Purcellville, Virginia. August 18, 2006. Loudoun Pianist-Composer Jennifer Warren-Baker is excited to announce the world-premiere performance of her original piano music on September 16, 2006. The concert will take place at 8:00 PM at the Sheila C. Johnson Performing Arts Center, located at The Hill School in Middleburg Virginia (130 South Madison Street, Middleburg, Virginia). Jennifer will perform her compositions on her very own Hamburg Steinway grand piano. The concert was organized on the urging of many of Jennifer’s colleagues, friends, and family. The concert will also celebrate the release of her new CD, Midpoint. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Doors will open at 7:00 PM. The Hill School Playhouse is presenting the concert, and will receive a portion of the proceeds.
Jennifer knew that it was time to share the body of work that she had accumulated in fifteen years of artistic fervor. Although most know Jennifer as a pianist and piano teacher, the artist confesses that she has been a “closet composer” for years, secretly developing a body of work, and praying to find the time to orchestrate its debut. Some may recall Jennifer as the composer and music director for the VSA production of Twelve Dancing Princesses in 2005.
“I am excited to bring an important body of work to completion with this concert. All of my early works were for solo piano, and these are a product of my teens and twenties. The public will have an opportunity to hear never-before performed works. My music is not atonal garbage designed to win smiles from the academic elite, but is simply a collection of ‘sound paintings’ that draw from the emotions of life. I think it’s important that music make an emotional connection with the listener,” says Jennifer
Past Loudoun Arts Council president Gale Waldron describes Jennifer’s music:
“Her music is her own, and it is rhythmic and moving. Influenced by Scott Joplin, Alberto Ginestera, Gershwin, Debussy and Ravel, she fuses many different musical styles to produce her own innovative sounds. Her sense of internal rhythm coupled with her eclectic composition permits Jennifer to create a range of musical expression, all different yet exhibiting her identifiable style."

Jennifer is the proprietor of Keyboard Adventures, a piano studio offering private instruction to children and adults in Purcellville, VA. Since moving to Loudoun in 1997, Jennifer has also worked in various musical capacities for several arts organizations and schools, including The Growing Stage, Very Special Arts, The Hill School Playhouse, and various others. She has played keyboard for independent productions such as C Jam Blues and the musical, Porches. Her life as a working musician has required her to wear many hats, including composer, music director, accompanist, pianist, and keyboardist.
