September 25, 2009 - Kenilworth, Il – The Glo bag – Chicago mothers and creators of the Glo bag, Jennifer Koutouras and Kendra Cunningham, will raise awareness for childhood obesity at the Glo bag’s launch party on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 6 pm – 10 pm at the Kenilworth Club, 410 Kenilworth Ave, Kenilworth, Il., 60043.
“We are thrilled to be raising awareness for childhood obesity and at the same time introducing the Glo Bag to the public, Says Cunningham. “We are facing the first generation of children who may not outlive their parents because of childhood obesity. This is a very sobering statistic. The Glo bag is committed to giving back to charities and programs whose mission is to break the obesity cycle and help our children live long and healthy lives.”
The evening from 6 pm to 10 pm will include Hor d’oeuvres, “glo-tinis” and complementary workout classes including Zumba dance class, Carido Kick Boxing and Pilates. All workouts courtesy of Equinox, Highland Park.
Busy mothers and creators of the Glo bag, Koutouras and Cunningham, came up with the idea to design the ultimate gym bag to help everyone get in and out of the gym quickly. “We both go to the gym regularly, but we were getting frustrated that our duffle bag had to be turned and stuffed into the locker. The result was a messy jumble of toiletries, clean and dirty clothes that took too long to organize when it came time to shower and dress,” explains Koutouras. “I thought, why hasn’t anyone designed a bag that fits into a gym locker, with the convenience of a backpack? The bag would need separate compartments for shoes, a wet bag, and a way to organize toiletries.”
After several designs and prototypes, Koutouras and Cunningham came up with their ultimate gym bag, the Glo bag. Also important to them was making sure the bag was made in the U.S.A. and a certain percentage of their proceeds go to charities fighting childhood obesity. About the creators
Jennifer Koutouras grew up in Detroit, received her MBA from DePaul University and has a background in the Finance industry. She is a wife and mother to two young children. Kendra Cunningham grew up in Tulsa, received her BFA degree from Oklahoma University and has worked as a costumer in the entertainment industry in California. She is a wife and mother to two young children. Both reside in Kenilworth and are next door neighbors.
