Houston, TX (1888PressRelease)
October 01, 2007 - The First Annual Wellness Rules: Health and Wellness Fair went off without a hitch. The Wellness Outreach Foundation, partnered with Nationalway Healthcare Association and The Houston Mama, organized and hosted this wonderful event along with Holistic Wellness Solutions and Karen Cline Properties. The Community Event was co-sponsored by Councilmember Jarvis Johnson, District B, City of Houston Convention and Entertainment Facilities Dept., Walgreen’s, Baker-Hughes and Dignity Memorial Hospital.
The meaning of “Wellness Rules” is to combine and balance physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and financial health to promote overall wellness. And the mission of The Wellness Outreach Foundation is to provide access to services that will Inspire, Educate and Advocate the importance of accomplishing overall wellness. Contributions to this effort came from over 30 vendors providing attendees with free information and giveaways helping to accomplish these goals.
Available to all attendees were FREE prescription cards, FREE massages, FREE exercise instruction, informative speakers and live entertainment. And of course, the kid’s were kept busy with a play area including 5 moon bounces, basketball, a rock wall, face painting and balloon art.
Along with educating to save lives, we were giving to save lives! Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center hosted a blood drive and we are pleased to announce that 8 whole blood units, 5 double red blood cell units, and 2 red cell plasma units with 4 deferrals were collected. Our donations touched as many as 60 lives!
Overall, the messages were heard, the community was reached and the efforts for health and wellness equality have begun. The Foundation will continue to promote wellness through ongoing community outreach events. For more information on this event and upcoming community efforts, visit www.wellnessoutreach.org
