March 25, 2008 - Cary Griffiths' paintings offer the viewer a glimpse of the artist's "dreamspace," a place where everyday reality falls away and colors, lines, and perspectives take on dramatic new meanings. As an Abstract "Expressionist" painter, Griffiths imbues his work with a musical, rhythmic quality, while maintaining a raw simplicity in his canvases. He says, "As a painter I see and hear a bridge between the beauty of music and that of abstract art. When I paint I almost always feel a beat, a rhythm in what I am painting. “Griffiths work carries an emotional weight that pulls the viewer into a dialogue with the painting, as each brushstroke provokes a reaction, a question, a memory.
Cary Griffiths is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. He has exhibited his work widely throughout the U.S and London, in both group and solo shows. He is a vibrant and active artist in his community.
