Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2007 - The Ostrich Festival is back in Chandler, Arizona for its 19th year. With such a proud history behind this annual event, it is no wonder that people from far and wide will be gathering in Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park (2250 S. McQueen Road, at Germann) once again this year from March 9th, 10th, and 11th.

Organized by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce (http://chandl erchamber.com), this year’s Ostrich Festival (http://ostric hfestival.com) will have loads to off different things to do for people of all ages. One of the most popular every year are the ostrich races, which happen several times every day. The parade will occur on Saturday this year, which is an event that most visitors won’t want to miss.

With two different stages, there’s lots of opportunities to see headliners famous nationwide for live entertainment, as well as all of the best local bands. Furthermore, there’s a ton of family fun at not one, but two midways at the Ostrich Festival Carnival, with thrilling rides, games, and all the favorites.

Throughout the Ostrich Festival, visitors will discover a vast range of arts and crafts, and many other products (including ostrich meat!) and services from over 150 exhibitors!

The Ostrich Festival pays homage to the history of Chandler, which was once dedicated primarily to ostrich ranching. These large birds were raised for their plumes, which were considered to be extremely stylish, and were sold at high prices. This celebration of the history of Chandler brings a first-class community event to the area, which is open to everybody who wants to take part.

Back when the Chandler Chamber of Commerce first started the event in 1989, the festival was originally held downtown, but after the downtown area of Chandler was redistricted, it was moved to it’s current location in Tumbleweed Park.

The festival has had several moments of celebrity among its 19 years, having been a backdrop in the movie "Waiting to Exhale" starring Whitney Houston (in 1995) as well as a setting for "Lover Boy", a Harlequin Romance. Both brought the festival international attention.

It is comforting to know that even after all of the new projects, activities, and events that the Chandler Chamber of Commerce organizes, such as their latest opening of the online Chandler mall (http//chandler.chambercommunity.com), they still hold on to the traditions that celebrate the community and its history. This year is sure to be the best one yet!
