September 02, 2009 - The Buzz International Group (Buzz), New York’s premiere marketing, PR, and events agency, announced today the signing of professional female boxing champion, Maureen Shea. Signed under the Buzz Sports Marketing Division, headed by Denrick Romain, Buzz seeks to unlock opportunities to build Shea’s brand outside of the boxing ring. With the inception of Buzz’s Sports Marketing Division in June, 2009, this is the first client of record for this venture.
In signing Maureen Shea, Sports Marketing Vice President, Denrick Romain states “In the several times I have met with Shea I have learned two things- one is that she is a tremendous boxer and two is that her lifelong determination and perseverance, despite many obstacles, has led her to much success in her life. Hailing from the Bronx, New York, Maureen Shea, of Mexican and Irish decent, grew up tough and with a multicultural background known for fighting. A victim of abuse, Shea sought the ring as a means to cope and worked her way to becoming the WBA Women’s Super Featherweight title-holder of 2008. Shea is highly recognized for her work in training Hillary Swank for her award-winning portrayal of a boxer in Million Dollar Baby. She was also nominated by PETA in 2008 for Sexiest Vegetarian and is actively working as a motivational and spiritual speaker. Undoubtedly, Shea is more than an amazing fighter and athlete which makes her opportunities boundless under the guidance of Romain and the Sports Marketing team.
