March 24, 2007 - The common business card has joined the computer age. Instead of just giving a prospect your name, address, and telephone number, now you can share your pricing, technology, demonstrate your products/services, and educate, according to John Nowinsky of Creative Computer Concepts.
It’s called the WebCard and can store 50 megabytes. This is equivalent to the following: 1500 PDFs, 500-2000 web pages, 5 mins of video, 48mins of audio, or 250 Power Point Slides ready to slip into your prospect's computer.
John Nowinsky says the WebCard label can be printed to look like your current business card. So it does the same job as ordinary cards. You still approach the prospect and say, "Here's my card, give me a call,"
Yet, the hole in the middle and the rounded edges tell your prospect that this is something special. The prospect simply slips it out of its clear protective sleeve and into a computer's CD drive and they have your complete presentation.
So if the CEO of your company wants to speak on the mission of the company, your prospects can hear him on a WebCard. Show a movie of a project of yours in color. You’ve got it. Demonstrate your products/services. You can make comparisons in graphs, photos of previous work; data sheets of research, testimonies of happy clients, etc. --- all of it is now available on this new style business card. You direct the flow of information to best showcase your differences and strengths.
John Nowinsky says the greatest problem you run into is getting in to see your prospect to give your presentation. The WebCard solves this problem because your WebCard has your presentation. The curiosity of just seeing something new is irresistible. Your prospect will take the time to look at your WebCard when they won't take the time to meet with you. If you are doing a mailing, include a WebCard. It has been shown 90% of people who receive a WebCard view it, over 85% watch it the first day they receive it, 94% of all WebCards are watched with someone and there is at least a 50% increase in retention of the information.
What about the costs? John Nowinsky says to evaluate the costs; you must factor in the cost of sales, not just the cost of printing your paper business cards. You can use many of the communication tools that currently exist somewhere in your sales or business departments. Do you have a company video, commercial, or a PowerPoint presentation? How about brochures and price lists? Have you send out press releases or photos? Do you have a website? All of this sales material can be pulled together, and put onto a WebCard that you can carry in your wallet. What does it cost to pull this material together? Much less than you think? Once your presentation is completed, your next cost is getting the WebCard made.
Just like placing an order for your paper business cards. The price per WebCard is connected to quantity, of course, but WebCards can be made for as low as $.99 each.
As if this wasn't enough to give you a competitive edge, your WebCard can connect to the Internet and your online store so that prospects can place orders right from your WebCard. Can your business card do that?
WebCards receive anywhere from 10-60 times the response rate of other media. In addition, the WebCard can contain proprietary data that you may not want to share directly with the general public.
There is one disadvantage to the WebCard though. Vacuum loading CD drives cannot read the WebCard because of its size. Fortunately, less than 1% of all computers have these types of drives.
The digital revolution has touched the heart of business communication: the business card.
