May 25, 2008 - "The Boychick Affair - The Bar Mitzvah of Harry Boychick" will celebrate its fifth month this June at the Hayworth Theatre in Hollywood. Harry Boychick (Greg Mikurak) has been 'becoming a man' since January and there is no end in site!!! In the tradition of “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” and “Grandma Sylvia’s Funeral”, this interactive comedy gives new meaning to the catch phrase ‘dysfunctional family' with the emphasis on the fun.
“The Boychick Affair” is a hands- on interactive comedy, where the audience members (the guests) enjoy singing, dancing, schmoozing and eating a fabulous meal with the actors (the family). The show begins with Harry Boychick’s ceremony and takes you through to the rumpus reception afterward. It tells the story of twenty different characters dealing with contemporaneous issues in a humorous, very colorful way.
Amy Lord, writer-director and cast member of "The Boychick Affair", is the co-creator of the hit show “Grandma Sylvia’s Funeral” which is renowned for being the ‘5th longest running show off-Broadway’ and continues to enjoy audiences worldwide. Amy is a wife and mother to six children.
There will be no Friday night or Saturday matinee performances in observance of the Jewish Sabbath. Sundays at 2 pm are when some of Los Angeles’ most outrageous and seasoned character actors will perform this “hysterical, touching and thoroughly enjoyable” show.
