New York, NY (1888PressRelease)
December 17, 2008 - The Book Bank Foundation, established by celebrity sports agent and philanthropist Glenn Toby, will travel to multiple homeless shelters throughout four different New York boroughs, giving hope and holiday cheer to thousands of homeless families in the 2008 “Shelter from the Streets” campaign. Beginning at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 18th at the Jamaica Family Residence, Glenn Toby and his brigade of volunteers will distribute new clothing, toiletries, books and toys to families in need.
Throughout this past year, $75,000 dollars worth of product has been donated to The Book Bank Foundation for this campaign. Participating companies include: Alador & Smith, Hugo Boss, Kashi Kicks, Rotten Apple, Tommy Hilfiger and Procter & Gamble/Tag Brand. Additionally, generous monetary donations enabled the foundation to rent a Coach bus that will transport the goods and volunteers to the various shelter locations.
Following the first visit to the Jamaica Family Residence in Queens, the bus will stop in Brooklyn and the Bronx, and conclude in Manhattan, at The New York Rescue Mission. Throughout the day, volunteers along with Mr. Toby will also visit bus stations, train stations and bridge underpasses to distribute the products to the homeless. “With the economic state of affairs today in communities across the nation, people are suffering and in dire need of the basic items for everyday survival,” says Mr. Toby. “Charity begins at home and we are coming to those without homes or stable living conditions. Things can and will get better.”
