August 04, 2008 - The internet, birthplace of new ideas and conceptual firsts, opened the doors to the hallowed halls of history to the general public with MarkinHistory at http:MarkinHistory.com.
The site, a first of its kind, allows users to write their own history and keep it online where it will be accesible to future generations. Promising to "Open the History Books to everyone," Mark in History plans to stay online for as long as there is an internet through a trust funded by revenue created through advertising on the site.
Brainchild of writer Thomas C. Davis Jr, author of Perspective at http://thomasdavis.name and creator of such sites as Living the Greenway - an environmental blog at http:thegreenwayblog.com; The Green Dry Cleaner - an environmentally safe dry cleaner at http:TheGreenDryCleaner.com, Mark in History will be "the internet repository of human life." says Davis.
"Each person that passes through this world of ours changes it. What they did, who they were, and how they lived. History had been limited by the space available in books.
No More! With the digital age and the memory capabilities comes the right and duty to record and remember every life, its contribution to this world and recognize the value inherent in each."
The site, now out of beta, is open to the public and has memberships that are free of charge with premium memberships available in the near future.
