July 23, 2008 - Artist Statement: As early as I can remember I have been using my hands to create objects. For ten years now I have turned my passion for creation and texture into works of art. Struggling to find a niche in the world, I tried odd jobs along the way. Art was in the background in my life as I continued to work for money. Nowadays, I have pushed my artistic endeavors to the forefront. I enjoy working in the fine arts and realize now that if I love what I do, and continue doing it, financial success will follow.
I have been trained in the fine arts from the University of Calgary and most recently, Emily Carr Institute. I enjoy painting, drawing, photography, and digital media. But, my main focus and passion is working with clay. I guess this stems from my love of texture and using my hands. My inspirations mainly stem from the beautiful world around us, everyday life, and most of all, the colors of nature.
